“The art of Mieczyslaw Wasilewski focuses on the sign. The vast majority of his works are spare, black-and-white drawings that accurately convey often complicated and difficult ideas. Mieczyslaw Wasilewski (born 1942) studied graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduating with a diploma from the poster design studio of professor Henryk Tomaszewski in 1966. He has been a professor at his alma mater since 1971. Wasilewski has won numerous awards and distinctions in the field of poster design, including prizes at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw (Gold Medal – 1976, Silver Medal – 1994) and the International Triennial of Stage Posters in Sophia (Silver Medal – 1995).” (culture.pl)
